Welcome to Comacan Questions, we have another special guest for a round of our Friday interviews. This guest we first heard about through a mutual friend and we instantly wanted to know more about who they are and what they do. Being that we are an indigenous owned and operated business we wanted to spread the word about another indigenous business. Our guests today incorporate skateboarding, wellness and community all into one, please enjoy this week’s Interview with Wavy.

What is Wavy?
Wavy to us is a vibe! We like to offer a very welcoming atmosphere with the intent to build a strong community!

Where are you based out of?
We are located on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory at 5379 Old Hwy 2

Do you have a team?
Not currently, we do have a couple people really close to us that throw down. We do have plans for future videos and a couple really rad ideas down the line.

Where can people view available products?
You can come into our retail location Wednesday to Sunday or you can shop online on our website www.shoppewavy.com. The best place to keep up to date with us is on social media!

What does skateboarding mean to you personally?
Discipline, Heart, Poise, Creativity, but the biggest one Community. Skateboarding changed the way I looked at the world and beat work ethic into me! It also taught me to not give up.

What is your favourite part of owning a shop?
Well, currently we haven’t owned a shop for very long but what we can say is it’s allowed us to curate a vibe that we’ve always wanted walking into any retail location. It allows us to control the creative process, which keeps us motivated and always wanting to move forward!

What was the inspiration behind opening a shop?
To bring something different and unique to our area for the youth. With Megan being a visual merchandiser/artist for over a decade and myself printing and designing/selling apparel it just seemed to make sense for us to open up our own location. The skateboards, wellness and cup craft are just other hobbies of ours that we do daily. If we’re not using it we’re not selling it!
